Pennsylvania is currently one of the bigger legal sports betting markets in the USA. It has plenty of teams, fans and sports bettors. It also borders plenty of states that have their own fans and borders that could drive over to place their legal wager.
So, how much action did Pennsylvania based sportsbooks receive in September 2019? $194.5M to be exact. This was an increase of 78% from the month before. And it doesn’t take a genius to realize the reason for the huge spike.
One sportsbook has shone through to be the dominant sportsbook in that state. FanDuel booked more than half of all of Pennsylvania’s sports betting action in September of 2019.
FanDuel took in $85M in bets and in second place is SugarHouse which booked $38M in bets. No word on if October will be as big as September but by many estimations it should be at least equal, if not better. People are becoming more used to placing legal sports wagers and not fearing some type of legal action.
