Two bills for sports betting recently failed in the Grand Canyon State. The first was centered on allowing sports betting at tribal locations but would’ve prohibited sports betting online.
The second bill was seeking to also authorize legals sports betting at any one of 26 tribal locations but also addressed legalization of commercial sportsbooks. It too was not “mobile-friendly”.
Representative Stephen Pierce sponsored both bills but believes that ultimately that any resident of Arizona should be able to place a legal sports wager.
The topic seems dead for the rest of 2020 and with the total standstill caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, lawmakers probably feel there are bigger fish to fry, so to speak.
