Recently, Ted Leonsis, billionaire owner of the Washington Capitols and the WNBA’s Washington Mystics,  announced he has signed a deal to bring sports betting to the arenas where his teams play. “By opening up a world-class sportsbook, the building will come alive during the day,” said Leonsis. “We want to be able to take advantage of the investment we have in real estate.”

Last month he signed with UK based sportsbook William Hill, a betting company that many consider to be the most prominent in the entire world.

“The gamification of all sporting events is a very positive thing.” says Leonsis. “It will take an industry in an unregulated untaxed dark space and bring it into the light.”

Some may see this as the rich trying to get richer but many see this as a sports company owner trying to offer the most complete sporting experience available.

We will keep you updated as to when the sportsbook becomes live and all developments regarding this topic.
