The numbers for September are in and boy do they look good for some states and their sportsbook partners.
September is typically one of the busiest betting months of the year with the kick off of NFL football and MLB in late-season form. So, it came as no surprise that the burgeoning U.S. market set some records in 2021.
New Jersey set an all time sports betting handle number with over $1.1B. If you recall, NJ was behind the major push to get sports betting legalized and regulated in the U.S. Once the Supreme Court made that a reality, the state had everything ready to go and only had the lever to hit.
The State of Michigan has seen its highest total handle as well. The state topped $300M in total handle for the first time in its short history of legalized and regulated sports betting.
What does all of this mean for the states? It means an increased revenue stream that is slated to be used for education and infrastructure, according to the states themselves.
